Police detain woman over grisly murder of lover in Ctg

Police on Friday detained a woman allegedly for chopping her boyfriend into pieces and dumping body parts into multiple canals.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Anis, a resident of Raozan upazila in the district, while the arrestee was Sofia.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) revealed the brutality after recovering hand, leg and head of the youth from different canals.

Sources said Anis remained missing since Tuesday (20 Jan).

On Friday afternoon, his severed head was recovered from a canal in the city’s Oxygen area. Earlier, police also recovered his hand and leg from other locations.

Sources claimed that Anis had lent Tk2.8 lakh to the accused girlfriend Sofia. As he demanded the money back, she killed him in that brutal way.

However, Sofia’s relatives claimed that Anis was killed after he used to blackmail her with their intimate photos and videos.

Officer in-Charge (OC) Zahidul Kabir of Bayezid Bostami Police Station said, “After recovering his hand and leg on Wednesday, police found head on Friday.

His girlfriend Sofia was detained and further investigation was going on, he added.
