Islami Andolan has announced that it will contest the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election independently, without forming an alliance with any other political party.
The announcement was made by the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General and spokesperson, Gazi Ataur Rahman, at a press conference held at 3:00pm on Friday at the party’s central office in Purana Paltan in the capital.
Addressing the media, Ataur said that due to the cancellation of nomination papers of two candidates, the party now has valid candidates actively campaigning in 268 constituencies.
He added that all of these candidates will remain in the race and none will withdraw their nominations.
He further stated that Islami Andolan will extend support in the remaining 32 constituencies.
However, he noted that the party will announce later which political parties or candidates it will support in those seats.
