Citizens’ condolence in memory of Khaleda Zia held in city yesterday attending by thousands of people.
The event started at 2.30pm after the Jumma prayers. Invited people, including Tarique Rahman with his family members and senior BNP leaders, participated the memorial meeting.
Many foreign diplomats stationed in Dhaka also joined the event.
Strict security measures were imposed by law enforcement agencies.
In addition, diplomats from various countries stationed in Bangladesh have been seen in attendance.
Invitations were sent to guests in advance, and entry to the venue is being strictly restricted to those with invitation cards.
Strict security measures have been put in place surrounding the meeting. Members of the Bangladesh Army, Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Coast Guard, Ansar, and other law enforcement agencies have been deployed.
Personnel from various intelligence agencies are also engaged in ensuring security.
As the number of attendees increased at the venue, security arrangements were further strengthened.
Leaders and activists of different wings and associate organisations of the BNP are overseeing discipline and order during the programme.
