Special prayer offered for Khaleda Zia in Dubai

A special prayer was offered in the annual general meeting (AGM) of Kanaighat Probasi Samaj Kalyan Parishad-UAE, a social platform of expatriates of Sylhet’s Kanaighat upazila living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE); seeking eternal peace for former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Maulana Afsar Uddin conducted the prayer held at a hotel at Dubai International City recently.

Members of the organisation paid rich tributes to Khaleda Zia and prayed for the salvation of her departed soul. Speakers at the event spoke on the BNP Chairperson and recalled her contributions to the country and the democratic politics.

Junaid Ahmed, president of the Kanaighat Probasi Samaj Kalyan Parishad-UAE, presided over the event, while it was moderated by general secretary Abdul Latif. The organisation’s advisers Maulana Siddiqur Rahman, Ebadur Rahman and Ekhlasur Rahman, leaders of the organisation Fokrul Islam, Kawsar Uddin, Helaluddin Ahmed, Moklisur Rahman and Motiur Rahman, and Dubai BNP leaders Shahed Ahmed Rasel and Muhiuddin spoke on the occasion, among others.

At the AGM, Junaid Ahmed has been reelected president for two-year term. The Bangladeshi community leader based in Dubai is the founder president of the association. Amzad Mahmud Masum has been elected as general secretary.

The Election Commission announced the names of the two important posts. The full-fledged committee will be announced later.
