The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three main accused in the killing of Khokon Das (50), a pharmacy owner and bKash agent, in Shariatpur.
The arrested accused are- Sohag, Rabbi and Palash.
A special operational team of RAB-14, CPC-2 (Kishoreganj Camp), led by Company Commander ASP Shahjahan, conducted a raid at the early hours yesterday (around 1:00 am) and arrested the accused from the Bajitpur area of Kishoreganj district.
Shariatpur Superintendent of Police Rawnak Jahan said that before his death, victim Khokon Das had identified the accused by name.
Khokon Das, son of Paresh Das, was a local medicine shop owner and mobile financial service (bKash) agent.
According to police, on the night of December 31, 2025, around 9:30 pm, Khokon Das was returning home after closing his business at Keharbhanga Bazar.
Upon reaching the Tilai area near his residence, he was ambushed by three to four unidentified assailants who attacked him with sharp weapons, inflicting severe injuries to multiple parts of his body and looting the cash he was carrying.
When the attackers realized that the victim had recognized some of them, they allegedly attempted to kill him by pouring petrol over his body and face and setting him on fire.
At that time, hearing Khokon Das’s screams, local residents rushed to the scene, prompting the attackers to flee.
The injured and severely burned Khokon Das was rescued by locals and initially admitted to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital. Due to the critical condition, he was later referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
SP Rawnak Jahan said that the arrested individuals are locally known as delinquents and are reportedly involved in drug abuse and other criminal activities.
