The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Housing and Public Works Ministry on Wednesday suggested the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) to construct flats of various sizes instead of single-sized ones in its apartment project in Uttara blocks-B and C in the capital.
The committee came up with the recommendation at its 28th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, said a press release.
The chairman of the parliamentary body Engineer Mosharraf Hossain presided over the meeting.
Rajuk is implementing the multistory apartment project in Uttara with its own finance.
It is supposed to construct 1050-sq feet 7,224 flats in 86 multistory buildings in Uttara block-B and 850- sq feet 6,300 in 75 multistory buildings in Uttara block-C, as per the website of Rajuk.
The parliamentary watchdog its meeting also discussed the overall activities, ongoing projects and future plans of Rajuk, Public Works Department, National Housing Authority, Chittagong Development Au-thority, Cox’s Bazar Development Authority, Rajshahi Development Authority, Khulna Development Authority, Urban Development Directorate, Department of Architecture, Housing and Building Research Institute.
The parliamentary committee recommended coordination among the works of Chittagong Development Authority, Chittagong City Corporation and Water Development Board in maintaining canals in order to address the waterlogging in Chittagong city.
Committee members State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed, Narayon Chandra Chanda, Monowar Hossain Chowdhury, Anwarul Ashraf Khan, Syeda Zohora Alauddin and Farida Khanam attended the meeting.
