Former home minister and BNP vice chairman Major General (Retd.) Mahmudul Hasan passed away yesterday at the age of 90.
Mahmudul Hasan, former Member of Parliament (MP) from Tangail-5 constituency, breathed his last at 3 pm at his residence in the capital due to old age complication.
Mahmudul Hasan is survived by his son, daughter, numerous relatives, colleagues, admirers, and well-wishers.
The veteran politician’s passing was confirmed by Mahmudul Haque Sanu, the former member secretary of the district BNP. The namaz-e-janaza of the deceased will be held today, Thursday, January 1, at Bindubasini Government Boys High School ground in Tangail after the Zohr prayers.
In a statement expressing his condolences, BNP Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Pintu and BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku expressed profound shock at the death of Mahmudul Hasan.
