BNP Acting Chairman Tareque Rahman and his daughter Zaima Rahman have completed their voter registration formalities yesterday. The EC will decide on their inclusion in the voter list at a meeting today.
EC Senior Secretary Akhter Ahmed said they submitted forms, provided biometric data and applied for inclusion in Dhaka Ward-19 under Constituency-17.
Their fingerprints, signatures, and facial recognition data will be verified before issuing National Identi-ty Card (NID) numbers, he added.
He said that although the registration process is complete, the Commission needs time to finalize the re-maining procedures.
Tareque Rahman completed his registration at 1:18 p.m., while Zaima Rahman and Zubaida Rahman completed their process earlier yesterday.
Security, including the Army, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police and Ansar was deployed around the EC Secretariat and the Election Training Institute during their presence in the EC.
