The joining ceremony was held at 4:00pm on Friday at the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, where Rafiqul met the party’s Ameer Shafiqur Rahman.

During the meeting, in the presence of the Jamaat ameer, Rafiqul expressed deep confidence and satisfaction in Jamaat-e-Islami’s principles and ideology, as well as the party’s steadfast stance on patriotism and the protection of the country’s independence and sovereignty.

He formally joined the party by filling out the primary associate membership form.

He pledged to dedicate the rest of his life to Islamic values, the national interest, and the defense of Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty.

He also committed himself to abiding by Jamaat-e-Islami’s rules, ideology, party discipline, and organisational loyalty.

Shafiqur warmly embraced him and wished him a long and blessed life.

Senior Jamaat leaders present at the ceremony included Prof Md Ramzan Ali, ameer of Kishoreganj District Jamaat; Maulana Kabir Hossain, ameer of Bhairab Upazila Jamaat; and Shahjahan Sarkar, ameer of the Bhairab Municipality unit.

Rafiqul is widely respected not only as a freedom fighter but also as a visionary educationist, tireless social reformer, and a key contributor to the development of Bhairab.

His lasting contributions to educational institutions, mosques, and various public welfare initiatives are regarded as a source of inspiration for the younger generation.

A student activist during the 1960s, he was a student leader at Haji Asmat College and Dhaka University, and served as an elected drama and recreation secretary of DUCSU.

During the 1971 Liberation War, he actively took part in direct operations as a freedom fighter in the Kuliarchar–Bhairab–Kishoreganj region.

After independence, he devoted himself to education and social welfare. Institutions such as Fatema Ramzan Government Primary School, Shaheed Arbur Rahman Kindergarten, Murshid–Mujib High School, the national award-winning Rafiqul Islam Women’s College, and Halima Sadia Women’s Madrasa stand as enduring examples of his dedication and foresight.
