No new projects until voting ends: EC

Staff Reporter:

The Election Commission (EC) has directed that approval of new projects, laying foundation stones, inauguration of plaques, and distribution of grants or relief in electoral areas be suspended until voting is completed.

To keep the election free from influence, separate letters to this effect were sent on Tuesday to the secretaries of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, the Local Government Division, the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, and to the chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.

The 13th parliamentary election and the referendum on the July National Charter will be held on 12 February.
