Udichi’s Dhaka office torched, five firefighting units deployed

A fire erupted at the Dhaka office of the Udichi Shilpigosthi after Friday evening, amid a tense situation in the capital over protests against the killing of July Uprising participant Osman Hadi.

Locals said a group of people suddenly reached the office on Topkhana Road around 7pm. The group vandalised the office and set fire to it, sparking panic inside, eyewitnesses told reporters.

Hearing the news, the Fire Service sent five units to the spot.

Loss as well as casualties could not be immediately known.
