The victims were members of the Bangladesh Army, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Assailants attacked a UN base in Abyei, killing six peacekeepers from the Army and injuring eight others, the ISPR said in a brief statement, adding that fighting was ongoing.

The ISPR did not provide further details about the incident.
