Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and an independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, has been transferred from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to Evercare Hospital in the capital, following his family’s decision.
The ambulance carrying him reached Evercare around 8:05pm on Friday.
Earlier in the evening, Director of DMCH Brig Gen Md Asaduzzaman told journalists, “Hadi has sustained a bullet injury to the head. We performed an initial surgery at DMCH, and now he is being sent to Evercare Hospital.”
Hadi was shot by unidentified assailants on Friday afternoon in the capital’s Paltan area. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has ordered law enforcement agencies to take swift action to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali said police have launched a combing operation to detain the unidentified youths seen opening fire at Hadi in the CCTV footage.
