Staff Reporter:
The interim government has threatened legal actions against medical technologists and pharmacists who are boycotting duties at public hospitals despite official assurances of meeting their demands.
The strikes are causing immense sufferings for patients and healthcare service seekers, the health ministry said in a notification on Friday.
The medical technologists and pharmacists have been observing work abstention at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and other key government hospitals demanding 10th grade job facilities. The government has already expressed its willingness to realise the demand.
The health ministry and public administration ministry are working to realise the demand, but as the issue is a longstanding one, the government needs adequate time to resolve it, the notification read.
Representatives of the protesters have been informed of the progress the government has so far made in meeting their demand. And yet, the protesters are boycotting duties, causing sufferings to patients.
In light of the progress, the ministry requests the protesters to immediately resume their appointed activities. Otherwise, the government would take legal action against the disruption of emergency services, the ministry warned in the notification.
