Air ambulance from Germany to arrive Saturday to take Khaleda abroad

Staff Reporter:

An air ambulance from Germany, arranged and funded by the Government of Qatar, is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Saturday (6 December) to transport BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad for advanced medical treatment.

The Qatar Embassy in Dhaka confirmed the development on Friday, saying the aircraft will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5pm on Saturday.

Although the air ambulance is operated by a German company, Qatar is covering all expenses, including rental charges and necessary logistical arrangements, the embassy said.

All permissions required for the aircraft’s landing have already been completed.

BNP Media Cell Member Shairul Kabir Khan said that due to a technical fault with the Qatar royal family’s air ambulance, the Emir of Qatar is sending another air ambulance as promised, which is scheduled to land in Dhaka at 5pm on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that Khaleda Zia could be flown to London on Sunday for advanced treatment, pending approval from her medical team at Evercare Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
