Seven more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Thursday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 377 this year.
In the 24-hour span, 567 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 92,784 in 2025.
Among the fatalities – four women and three men – three were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), two in Mymensingh division and one each in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Chattogram division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest cases, 69 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 86 in Chattogram division, 92 in Dhaka division, 125 under DNCC, 86 under DSCC, 41 in Khulna division, 37 in Mymensingh division, 25 in Rajshahi division, two in Rangpur division, and four in Sylhet division.
DGHS data shows that men account for 62.3% of infections so far this year, while women represent 37.7%.
Currently, 2,189 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Dengue killed 575 people in 2024, with 1,01,214 cases recorded. The previous year saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 3,21,179 hospitalisations.
