1,692 arrested nationwide in special police drive

The police have arrested 1,692 people in a 24-hour special drive across the country, including the capital.

Confirming the matter on Thursday, Police Headquarters’ AIG (Media and PR) Sahadat Hossain said during the 24-hour drive on Wednesday, 1,083 were accused in various criminal cases or have outstanding warrants, while 609 others were apprehended for involvement in various offences.

During the operation, the police also seized a single-barrel gun, four locally made guns, a machete, and two Burmese knives.

Police Headquarters said such special drives will continue to maintain law and order in the country.
