Helpless people go abroad for treatment: Adviser

Staff Reporter:

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul yesterday said that people used to go abroad for treatment when they feel helpless.
“People are going abroad for treatment after becoming bored and helpless…” he said at the annual gen-eral meeting of the newly elected executive committee of the Bangladesh Private Hospital, Clinic and Diagnostic Owners Association at Shaheed Abu Sayed International Convention Center in the city.
Addressing the owners of private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centers, he said, “According to you, there is a market of four to five billion dollars in the medical sector. Can’t you capture this market? Why do people want to go abroad for treatment? Even people who have never been to Dhaka go to India and Bangkok for treatment. People become bored and helpless.”
The Law Adviser asked all concerned to stop their going abroad. “If services are provided here, people will never go abroad. There is no reason to go. If you capture this market, it will be beneficial for you and the country as well,” he said
The Adviser said the physicians of Bangladesh have the ability of giving required treatments that they proved during the Corona period.
“Yesterday people do not want to go to India-Thailand. You have the ability to provide treatment. You have proven it during the Corona period. You have sacrificed your life and served,” he said.
