Islamic University: A student of Islamic University was killed in a road accident under sadar upazila in Kushtia on Monday.
The accident took place around 9:00 AM at Bittipara area in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Rashedul Islam, a masters’ student of Arabic Language and Literature de-partment of the university.
According to locals, Rashedul was returning to the campus from home sitting on the engine cover of a bus belonging to Shyamoli Paribahan. The bus, at one point, collided head-on with a speedy truck result-ing in Rashedul falling off the bus, leaving him critically injured on the spot.
Others rescued him and took him to Kushtia General Hospital for treatment where on-duty doctors de-clared him dead upon arrival.
IU proctor Professor M Shahinuzzaman said that they were looking into the matter.
Meanwhile, IU authorities, teachers and students of the Arabic Language and Literature department ex-pressed profound shock at the death of Rashedul.
They also conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
