Sarjis Alam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for the northern region, has said that a roadmap for the genocide trial alongside the national election also needs to be announced immediately.
The martyrs’ family members and the wounded warriors were disappointed by BNP’s lone focus on an election roadmap, Sarjis said, referring to its Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed’s remarks that announcing the election roadmap is the only solution to the prevailing crisis.
The hope of the country’s crores of people will be shattered if BNP is engaged in mounting pressure based on the lone issue, he wrote on his verified Facebook page on Friday.
The families of the July martyrs and the wounded warriors have not yet received justice and they remain in fear of losing their hopes and aspirations, he said, adding that in this situation, the countrymen expect a vital role from BNP.
The people now demand a clear roadmap for the genocide trial, fundamental reforms, and the prosecution of Hasina, alongside the national election, he wrote.
He said that against the backdrop of the July mass upsurge, people have expected a politically responsible role from the BNP, but if it remains rigid on its one-point demand, the countrymen will plunge into a serious crisis.
