The government has undertaken elaborate programs nationwide to observe the Genocide Day on March 25 commemorating the atrocities of Pakistani occupation forces on Bangalee people in the black night of March 25 in 1971.
On the occasion discussions on the significance of the day will be held in the educational institutions, where freedom fighters and eminent persons will spoke on their memories on genocide in 1971.
A seminar on Genocide and Liberation War will be held at Liberation War Museum at city’s Agargaon at 10 am.
President and Chief Adviser will deliver messages on the day while a photographic exhibition and screening of documentary will be arranged at all city corporations, including Dhaka.
The programs of the day will be broadcast on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.
Special prayers will be held at mosques after Zuhr prayers and other places of worships according to their convenience for the martyrs killed in the night of March 25, 1971.
In observance of the day, a symbolic one minute blackout will be observed nationwide from 10:30 pm to 10:31 pm.
Any kind of illumination will remain restricted in all government, semi-government, autonomous, pri-vate buildings and establishments in the night of March 25.
