Claiming that Bangladesh’s bilateral relation with India is good enough, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that the trade volume with the neighbouring country increased significantly since the interim government assumed office.
“Our relations with India have strengthened notably, indicating substantial trade growth over the past seven months,” he said while addressing a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Thursday.
However, Alam said there are some complexities over the visa-related issue and expressed his optimism to put an end to the crisis immediately.
“Bangladesh seeks to deepen its relationship with India, but insists that it be grounded in fairness, equality and mutual respect,” he said.
Soon after the unceremonious fall of Awami League government through a violent July-August mass upsurge, India started spreading propaganda and misleading information against Bangladesh deliberately, involving its number of newspapers and online news portals.
Providing asylum to deposed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana and several senior Awami League leaders, now the country is allegedly engaged in hatching a conspiracy to create a volatile situation in Bangladesh on various pretexts, including attack on the religious minorities.
