The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has strengthened security measures with reinforcing raids, patrol and monitoring at the check posts round the clock to maintain public safety and law and order and netted 289 more criminals.
“As part of the measures, check post and patrol activities have been increased in a coordinated way with DMP and other law and order forces as DMP is firmly committed to ensuring the overall security and smooth movement of people inside Dhaka Metropolitan City,” said a press release of the DMP.
Five hundred patrol teams of the DMP performed duties for public security of 50 police stations areas under its jurisdiction for the last 24 hours from 12:01am to 11:59pm on Tuesday.
A total of 65 police check posts were operated by DMP at various important and strategic locations to increase the security of the metropolitan area. In order to maintain public safety and law and order, 14 patrol teams of CTTC, 12 of Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) and 10 of RAB are deployed at various crime-prone areas of the city in addition to the DMP’s check posts.
Besides, 20 check posts are operated by the police’s specialized unit APBN in addition to the DMP’s check posts.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 289 people involved in various crimes were arrested in various places of the city by conducting raids.
The arrested include 29 robbers, six extortionists, 10 thieves, 19 identified drug dealers, 45 criminals wanted in various criminal cases.
During the operation, a ramda, four knives, two samurai, a cutting pliers, two knives, a saber, two rods, two fake identity cards of journalistic, two motorcycles, 2.9kg grams of copper wire, 17 keys, a switch, three ropes, five mobile phones, 12 foreign banknotes, a gold chain, two ovens, a refrigerator, two blenders, two sub-machines, a juice seal machine, a sound box and Tk around 8. 14 lakh in cash were seized from their possessions.
In addition, 100,302 pieces of Yaba, 1.140 grams of marijuana, two cans of beer and two bottles of Phensidyl were also seized.
In the last 24 hours, 68 cases were registered at various police stations of DMP.
