Home Adviser retired Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury yesterday said activities of the law enforcing agencies would be intensified further across the country from tonight to make sure no single incident of crime to happen.
“We don’t want even a single incident of crime to happen. So, we have given them necessary in-struction in this regard. The activities of the law enforcement agencies will be reinforced from to-night,” he said.
The home adviser was talking to journalists after coming out from a core committee meeting on law and order at the Home Ministry at Bangladesh Secretariat here.
Jahangir assured the countrymen of their safety and security as they discussed the measures to maintain the law and order.
Replying to a question, he said that the law and order situation is now satisfactory.
“But, there is still a scope to improve further,” he added.
Replying to a query, if the ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ is being questioned as the incidents of crime go-ing on, he said the operation was launched to take prompt action against any incident of crime as those could not happen again.
Jahangir said they are discussing the ways to check crimes in the days to come.
Referring to the incident in Rajshahi, he said three individuals were arrested immediately after the incident as the operation is going on.
The officers-in-charge who declined to register the cases have already been suspended, he said.
Asked about the reason of calling press conference at night, the home adviser said it is the testi-mony that they are working both at day and night for ensuring security of the countrymen.
Hailing the journalists for their work, he said that the government had already closed two police supers on the basis of investigation reports of a newspaper.
The home adviser called upon journalists to carry out such investigative journalism to help the government to take action against corruption and irregularities.
“Publish the truth as we can take action,” he urged the journalists.
