Int’l communities’ engagement needs to resolve Rohingya crisis: Foreign adviser

Staff Reporter:

Underscoring the need for a long-term plan to resolve the Rohingya crisis, Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain said that it is not possible for Bangladesh to resolve the issue alone without the support of the international community.

“We will have to increase the engagement of international communities otherwise, we will not be able to resolve the crisis alone,” he told reporters after attending a function in Dhaka on Saturday.

He also put emphasis on increasing leadership and building a national consensus in dealing with the issue, saying that a long-term plan is crucial to put an end to the crisis.

An international standard convention will be organised in Dhaka next year to pave the path for the smooth and dignified repatriation of the Rohingya people.
