Govt committed to protecting rights of people from all religions: Touhid

Staff Reporter:

Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain today said the interim government is committed to protecting the constitutional rights of people from all religious communities and maintaining communal harmony across the country.

“The rights of every individual are constitutionally recognized, and the government is dedicated to upholding these rights while ensuring communal harmony,” he said.

The foreign adviser made the remarks while exchanging greetings with members of the Hindu community at Dhakeshwari Temple in the capital amid the Durga Puja celebrations.

He firmly warned against any form of religious persecution or violence pointing that all citizens, regardless of their religious beliefs, are equal under the constitution.

Touhid said that no one would be allowed to inflict harm on any community based on religion.

“If such incidents occur, the government will bring the perpetrators to justice. I assure you, on behalf of the government, that offenders will be held accountable,” he said.

Highlighting the government’s firm stance on justice, he stated that they will never support any form of crime, nor will they allow any criminal to evade justice.

Touhid assured the members of the Hindu community that the government has taken comprehensive measures to enhance security during the Durga Puja celebrations.

He said the law enforcement agencies are actively working to maintain peace while volunteers across the country are collaborating with the Hindu community to prevent any potential disturbances by miscreants.
