Journalists help to control crimes with info: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Mainul Hasan yesterday said journalists are assist-ing police to ensure law and order situation and control crimes by providing news and information.
“The DMP is working relentlessly to ensure security for the city dwellers and maintain law and order to control crimes here. Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) is also assisting police by providing crime related news and information in various ways, which becomes helpful for the law en-forcers in controlling crimes,” he said.
The DMP boss was addressing the opening ceremony of ‘Walton-CRAB Sports Festival-2024’ organized by the CRAB at Outer Stadium of Paltan as the chief guest.
He said the crime reporters association, a traditional organization, has been working together with the police personnel for long.
He said the DMP is always maintaining good relations with the CRAB, expressing his hope to continue such relations in the days to come.
He later met player of the teams participating in the tournament and formally inaugurated it.
CRAB President Kamruzzaman Khan urged the DMP to launch a media award for its members as Gen-eral Secretary Sirajul Islam expressed gratitude to Walton for sponsoring the tournament and thanked the DMP commissioner as well.
Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations Muhammad Talebur Rahman along with members of CRAB and concerned police officers were present at the function.
