Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) yesterday said the well-marked low over southeastern part of Bangladesh and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal intensified into a deep-depression and landed over Jashore and adjoining area.
“The well-marked low over southeastern part of Bangladesh and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal in-tensified into a Depression, then land Deep Depression over Jashore and adjoining area at 9am yesterday. It is likely to move northwestwards further,” it said.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh , Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at some places over the country, said a weather bul-letin valid for 24 hours from 9 am yesterday.
Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur division and the districts of Bogura, Sirajganj and Sylhet and it may abate, it added.
Day and night temperature may fall 2-3 degrees Celsius over the country.
Country’s maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 37.9 degrees Celsius in Tetulia of Rangpur di-vision while yesterday’s minimum temperature was 23.0 degrees Celsius in Jashore of Khulna division.
Rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6 am yesterday was recorded 273 mm in Kutubdia.
The sun sets at 6:03pm yesterday and rises at 5:45 am today in the capital.
