President asks necessary steps for ensuring speedy justice in SC

President Mohammed Shahabuddin yesterday called upon the Supreme Court (SC) judges to take neces-sary steps for ensuring speedy justice.
The President came up with the call as a five-member judges delegation of the Supreme Court’s Appel-late Division led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed paid a call on him at Bangabhaban yesterday af-ternoon.
The Head of the State congratulated the newly-appointed Chief Justice and the other new judges of the Appellate Division, President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told.
The SC, country’s apex court, would take necessary steps under the leadership of the Chief Justice to reduce the people’s sufferings to the pending cases, President Shahabuddin hoped.
The other judges of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court were Justice Zubayer Rahman Chow-dhury, Justice Syed Md. Ziaul Karim, Justice Md. Rezaul Haque and Justice SM Emdadul Hoque.
During the meeting, the President was apprised by the Chief Justice of the overall activities of the Su-preme Court.
He said all the benches of the Supreme Court’s both divisions have been reorganized in the meantime.
Secretary of the President’s Office Dr Nasimul Ghani and Military Secretary Major General Mohammad Adil Chowdhury and Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin were present during the meeting.
