The four newly appointed advisers who were sworn in on Friday have been assigned their respective ministries.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oaths to the advisers.
Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary of the interim government’s chief adviser, gave this information.
The new advisers are Wahiduddin Mahmud, an economist who was an adviser to the 1996 caretaker government, Ali Imam Majumdar, former cabinet secretary who was appointed as special assistant to this interim government’s chief adviser on August 12, Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, former power secretary, and Lt Gen Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has been named the new home affairs adviser of the interim government.
Jahangir Alam has also been given the responsibility of the Agriculture Ministry.
Among the new advisers, economist Wahiduddin Mahmud has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Planning and the Ministry of Education. Former Cabinet Secretary Ali Imam Majumdar has been attached to the office of Chief Advisor.
Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, former power secretary, has been given the responsibility of three ministries.
He has been given the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources; the responsibility of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Ministry of Railways.
Home affairs adviser replaced
Home Adviser to the interim government Brig Gen (retd) Sakhawat Hussain has been replaced by Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury as the interim government.
Sakhawat Hossain has been given the charge of the Textiles and Jute ministry.
Ministries redistributed
The responsibilities of the existing advisers to the interim government have been redistributed along with announcing portfolios of newly sworn-in advisers.
Meanwhile, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed has also been given charge of the Ministry of Commerce as well.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul has also been given charge of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment; and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan has been given charge of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works in addition to the Ministry of Industries.
Environment, Forest and Climate Adviser Rizwana Hasan has been additionally given charge of the Ministry of Water Resources.
War Affairs Adviser Farooq-e-Azam has been additionally bestowed the charge of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud, who came to the interim government as advisers from the anti-discrimination student movement, got the responsibility of the new ministries along with the previous ministries.
Nahid Islam, adviser to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, has received the role of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
On the other hand, Asif Mahmud, the advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The reshuffle comes under the leadership of Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus, who retains control of several key ministries, including the Cabinet Division, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Food and Public Administration.
Earlier on August 9, the Cabinet Division announced the distribution of ministries among the advisers.
