The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has called on all its volunteer supporters to avoid doing anything that hampers the daily lives of people during their movement to resist the Awami League conspiracies after allegations were raised Thursday that vigilantes checked phones of passers-by.
The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’s coordinators do not support anything that violates someone’s privacy, coordinator Rifat Rashid said in a press statement on Thursday.
Rather than resisting the ousted Awami League regime’s malpractices, checking of others’ phones and other privacy breaching activities would rather revive the past discriminatory practices of the regime, Rifat said in the statement.
There have been claims from some quarters that Awami League would seek to reclaim power through a counter-revolution in August, prompting many civilian vigilantes to take to the streets from Thursday.
On behalf of all the coordinators, Rifat asked every supporter to hold peaceful demonstrations on the streets for resisting Awami League’s conspiracies.
While maintaining their presence on the roads, the civilian vigilantes and others must ensure that daily lives of people become more orderly and smooth, read the statement.
