Staff Reporter:

The advertisement featuring picture of Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Mohammad Yunus, in various media, including newspaper, has been banned, according to a statement of the Chief Adviser’s office.

The use of the Chief Adviser’s picture in advertisements or any other campaigns in various media, including newspapers, is prohibited, according to the statement issued on Friday evening.

Dr. Mohammad Yunus was sworn in as the Chief Adviser of the interim government on Thursday, following the collapse of the Sheikh Hasina-led government in the face of a student movement over the quota issue.

A day after his swearing-in, several organisations published advertisements in various newspapers using the Chief Adviser’s picture, sparking extensive discussion and criticism on social media since Friday morning.
