The deceased is identified as Mustak Mia, 24, a PDB lineman, hailing from Tuker Bazar area of Sylhet, our local correspondent reports quoting Maruf Hossain, a coworker of the victim.

Mustak came to the town to purchase a pair of shoes this afternoon and at one point of the student movement, he came in the line of a gunshot, our reporter said according to the witness.

Local people recovered Mustak and sent him to Habiganj hospital where the attending physician declared him dead.

The agitated students set fire to the district Awami League office on several motorcycles. They also threw brick chips at the residence of Abu Zahir, a lawmaker of Habiganj-3 constituency.

The students gathered in many groups and thronged the main road of the town after the Juma prayer, witnesses said.
