Fakhrul calls upon govt to resign immediately

Staff Reporter:

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon the government to resign immediately after stopping the “repression and oppression” on students.

In a written statement on Friday, he also asked the government to apologise to the nation for the massacre and torture that took place allegedly during the student movement.

The BNP secretary general alleged that the government continues to kill, attack, and torture students, paying no heed to the calls from the international communities, including the United Nations.

“Not only the attack, but the government also shut down various social media sites, including Facebook and Telegram, to thwart today’s programme,” he added.

Fakhrul also protested and denounced firing gunshots, lobbing tear shells, throwing sound grenades, and charging batons reportedly by law enforcers at students during their programmes at different places, including Uttara in Dhaka, Sylhet, Habiganj, Khulna, Chandpur, and Lakshmipur.

He said the collective spontaneous mass march of millions of students, teachers, and parents across the country proves that the entire country is united against the murderous dictatorial government now.
