Released six student leaders stage 32-hour hunger strike at DB office

Staff Reporter:

The six key coordinators of the quota reform movement continued a hunger strike for 32 hours until they were finally released by the Detective Branch of police on Thursday, Advocate Manzur Al Matin has said in a facebook post.

The six coordinators are: Sharzis Alam, Nahid Islam, Hasnat Abdullah, Asif Mahmud, Abu Baker and Nusrat Tabassum.

On Monday, Advocate Matin and Advocate Aynunnahar Siddiqua had filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking release of the six coordinators from DB custody, and order for stopping firing on student protesters by law enforcers. A hearing on the petition was scheduled Thursday, but later postponed due to the holiday of a junior judge.

In his facebook post Matin said, “I thought you had not read Nazrul, but I was so wrong! Rather, each one of you is a Nazrul.”
