All social media locked after 2pm yesterday

Staff Reporter:

Social media platforms, including Facebook and WhatsApp, were locked after 2pm yesterday.
According to Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), all social media platforms have been locked after 2pm yesterday.
It may take 24 to 48 hours to resume full-fledged services, it said.
The social media platforms were locked hours after State Minister for Post, Telecommunication, and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak disclosed the decision following a meeting with officials of the social media platforms at BTRC Bhaban.
TikTok officials physically joined the meeting at the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Com-mission (BTRC) Bhaban yesterday morning while officials of Meta’s platforms took part in the event virtually from Singapore.
After the meeting, Palak said these platforms will resume for facilitating the business of e-commerce and f-commerce sites.
