All quota saboteurs to be brought under law: DB

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner and Detective Branch (DB) Chief Harun Or Rashid yesterday said all saboteurs of quota reform movement will be brought under the purview of law.
“No saboteur will be spared. They will be brought under law even if those terrorists (Jamaat-Shibir and BNP) hide in the secret holes,” he told the media in a press briefing held at DB office on Minto road here.
In the sake of the security, many people have been taken in custody, he said, adding that however, no innocent people will be harassed.
Centering the quota movement, the innocent students were used by terrorists of Jamaat-Shibir and BNP, he said.
Later, the terrorists carried out violence in different parts of the country by destroying many important installments including government buildings, he added.
Even Metro rail was not spared from their violence, the DB chief said, adding that in this incident, law enforcers have found names and numbers of many people.
Four persons, who led the violence, were arrested, he said, adding that the main planner of the attack on metro rail was Chhatrodal Central Joint Secretary Abu Hannan.
He further said that Imam Al Naser, General Secretary of Shahidullah Hall Chhatra Dal of Dhaka Uni-versity, Bajlur Rahman Bijoy, Senior Joint General Secretary of Bijoy Ekattor Hall Chhatra Dal and Ferdous Rubel, Vice President of Private University Chhatra Dal, have been arrested.
The DB chief said that on July 19, they created anarchy in Mirpur-10 and Kazipara Metrorail areas with their associates.
They vandalized metro rail and set fire on various places, he said, adding that apart from this, they at-tacked and killed (by beating) the policemen who were in charge.
By collecting the names and numbers of saboteurs over the quota movement, DB teams are working sin-cerely to nab them, he added.
