Quota protesters have announced a nationwide ‘complete shutdown’ for Thursday demanding justice for the victims of the recent attacks on them and reform of the existing quota system in the government job.
Asif Mahmud, one of the key coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced the fresh demonstration programme on Wednesday evening.
“No institution, except hospitals and emergency services, will remain open, and no vehicles, except ambulances, will be allowed on the roads,” Asif said in a statement.
“We call on every school, college, university, private university, and madrasa to make this shutdown successful,” he added.
Urging the guardians of the students for support, he said, “We are your children. Stand by us and protect us. This fight is not just for students but for the people of this country, regardless of political affiliation.”
