As part of the anti-drugs drives in the capital, members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrest-ed a total of 31 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the last 24 hours till 6am yes-terday.
According to a release issued by the DMP, police conducted these operations against the drug sellers and consumers in different areas under various police stations of the metropolis.
They also detained a total of 31 drug traffickers and recovered huge amounts of drugs from their posses-sions from 6am of June 7 to 6 am yesterday.
During the anti-drugs raids, police seized 369 pieces of yaba contraband tablets, 227 grams of heroin and 46.500 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) from their possessions, the release said.
Police filed 20 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
