All burdens to fall on common people: Fakhrul

Staff Reporter:

The national budget will affect the common people adversely, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in an impromptu reaction over the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, placed in the parliament on Thursday.

“It is a plunderers-friendly budget. All burdens will fall on the common people while the scope for looters will be widened,” Fakhrul said, rejecting the budget vehemently.

The common people are already puzzled by the abnormal inflationary pressure, and the proposed budget will add extra fuel to the fire, said the BNP leader.

The pressure on local banks and dependency on foreign loans will increase while prices of everything will go up once the national budget is implemented, he said.

The proposed budget lacks a clear indication of creating new job opportunities, while it addresses the mega projects, committing massive corruption, Fakhrul said blaming the government for ignored the people’s interest in the budget.
