President Mohammed Shahabuddin yesterday asked the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) office to ensure transparent and accountable use of public funds.
The President came up with the directive as a three-member delegation led by the Comptroller and Audi-tor General (CAG) of Bangladesh, Md Nurul Islam, handed over an audit and accounts report to him at the Bangabhaban.
President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin said that the President had instructed all relevant authori-ties to maintain transparency and accountability in government spending.
The President emphasized the importance of auditing to verify that people’s money is being used proper-ly, as Bangladesh’s budget and development programs continue to grow every year.
The Head of the State directed the CAG to take necessary steps to update all audits and resolve any out-standing audit objections.
During the meeting, the CAG provided an overview of their recent work, including 45 compliance audit reports, two utility account reports, and two financial account reports.
They also informed the President about measures taken regarding government employee salaries, pen-sions, and other benefits.
