HC stays primary teachers’ hiring in Dhaka, Ctgm

Staff Reporter:

The High Court (HC) yesterday stayed for six months the process to appoint assistant teachers at the government primary schools in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.
A High Court division bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice S M Masud Hossain Dolon passed the order after holding hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard.
The court also ordered the authorities concerned to probe allegations of question paper leaking in the third phase test for the recruitment of assistant teachers in government primary schools.
Barrister Syed Sayedul Hoque Suman moved the writ before the court, while Deputy Attorney General Tushar Kanti Roy stood for the state.
“The question paper in the third phase test was leaked and many have appeared in the recruitment test with the leaked question paper. The result of the test has already been published, raising questions over the legitimacy of the test. A couple of appointment seekers from Dhaka and Chattogram had filed the writ, pleading for probe and staying the test,” Barrister Suman said.
Recently, the result of third phase test was published for 21 districts in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions, making way for 46,199 appointment seekers to appear in the viva voce. The High Court through its order yesterday, stayed the process.
