83.04% pass in SSC exams
1,82,129 get GPA-5

The results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations-2024 under 11 education boards were published yesterday with 83.04 percent pass rate, a 2.65 percent rise than the last year.
“A total of 16,72,153 students passed this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations out of 20,13,597 ex-aminees who appeared in the test”, said Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury while an-nouncing the results at a press briefing at the education ministry here.
State Minister for Education Shamsun Nahar, senior officials and chairmen of different education boards, among others, were present at the briefing.
Among the successful students, as many as 1,82,129 students got the highest grade point average (GPA-5) which was 1,83,578 in 2023 and
2,69,602 in 2022, said the minister.
Earlier, the education minister formally handed over the combined result statistics of the SSC and equiv-alent examinations to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban here this morning.
This year, the female students have outnumbered their male counterparts in terms of both pass rate and getting GPA-5 as a total of 10,24,803 female students passed the examinations with 84.47 percent suc-cess rate while the number for male students is 9,88,794 with 81.57 percent pass rate.
Among the GPA-5 holders, 83,353 are male and 98,776 are female students.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka education board has secured top position in getting GPA-5 while Jashore Educa-tion Board has secured the top position in terms of pass rate.
A total of 49,290 students from the Dhaka board secured GPA-5 in the examinations while the Rajshahi board secured 2nd position in terms of GPA-5 recipients, with 28,074 students.
The third highest GPA-5 recipients were from Jashore board with 20,762 students followed by Dinajpur board with 18,105 students, Madrasha board with 14,206 students, Mymensingh Board with 13,176 stu-dents, Cumilla board with 12,100 GPA-5 recipients and Chattogram board with 10,824 students.
Technical education board had the lowest number of GPA-5s with 4,078 students, while Barisal and Sylhet education boards did slightly better with 6,145 and 5,471 GPA-5 recipients, respectively.
In terms of pass rate, Jashore Education Board has secured the top position among 11 education boards with 92.33 percent pass rate while Sylhet Board witnessed the lowest pass rate of 73.35.
The pass rates of other boards are: 89.26 percent in Rajshahi Board, 89.13 percent in Barishal Board, 85 percent in, 83.92 percent in Dhaka Board, 82.80 percent in Chattogram Board, 79.66 percent in the Madrasah Board, 79.23 percent in Cumilla Board and 81.38 in technical education board.
In the nine general education boards, some 13, 45,678 students passed out of 16, 06,394 – where some 6, 23,853 are male and some 7, 21,825 are females. A total of 1, 63,845 students got GPA5 the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in the SSC exams, according to the results published here yesterday.
In the Madrasa Education Board, a total of 2,26,754 students – 1,09,714 male and 1,17,040 female – passed out of 2,84,665 students. Of them, some 14, 206 students got GPA-5.
In the Technical Education Board, 99,721 students – 72,986 male and 26,735 female – passed out of total 1, 22,538 students. Of them, 4,078 students got the GPA-5.
This year, a total of 2,968 educational institutions achieved 100 percent pass rate while students from 51 schools and madrasas under five education boards failed to come out successful in the examinations.
Among the institutions with 100 percent pass, 174 institutions are from Dhaka, 289 from Rajshahi, 98 from Cumilla, 422 from Jashore, 66 from Chattogram, 222 from Barishal, 31 from Sylhet, 77 from Di-najpur, 80 from Mymensingh while 1,089 are under Madrasah Board and 440 under Bangladesh Tech-nical Education Board (BTEB).
Among the institutions with zero pass rates, two institutions are from Rajshahi Education Board, three from Dhaka, five from Mymensingh and the maximum 42 from Madrasah Education Board.
A total of 298 students of eight foreign centers have come out successful in the SSC examinations this year with 85.88 percent pass rate.
A total of 347 overseas students appeared in the SSC examinations this year.
