Health and Family Welfare Minister Professor Dr Samanta Lal Sen yesterday said negligence of doctors while providing treatment to the patients will not be tolerated.
“I am urging the physicians to show highest professionalism while performing their duties . . . any kind of negligence will not be tolerated,” he told an orientation program of the newly appointed doctors at Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Convention Hall of the Bangandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical Uni-versity here.
Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of the Health Services (DGHS) Md Khurshid Alam and DG of Directorate of Family Welfare Sahan Ara Banu, among others, were present at the function.
Samanta Lal said, “I have taken charge as the health minister for a three and half-month only. I will ex-tend my all cooperation for the well-being of the medical professionals simultaneously; I am expecting good behaviors of doctors towards service-seeking people of the country.”
He said, “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had dreamt to provide healthcare facilities to the doorsteps of the common people. I think you (doctors) are the main architects to fulfill the dream of the Bangabandhu by ensuring treatment facilities for all.”
