Rangamati: At least six people were killed and seven others injured when a truck skidded off the road and fell into a ditch near Udaipur border area in Sajek upazila of Rangamati yesterday evening.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. The incident took place at 90 degree area on Udaipur border road, Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shirin Akhter said.
She said army personnel recovered the dead bodies and rescued the injured workers from the spot. The injured were sent to Khagrachhari General Hospital. The victims were engaged in road construction work along the Udaipur border, Shirin Akhter added.
Rangamati’s additional police super Maruf Ahmed said a team of police was on way to the spot.
