Journo Atiqur Rahman dies

M Atiqur Rahman Habib, joint news editor of a vernacular daily “Dainik Bhorer Kagaj”, died of a brain tumor at a hospital in the city yesterday morning. He was only 48.
“M Atiqur Rahman breathed his last around 5am while undergoing treatment at National Institute of Neuro Sciences and Hospital in the capital,” family sources said.
He left behind his wife, relatives, colleagues and a host of well wishers and admirers to mourn his death.
He will be buried at his family graveyard in Tangail after the third Namaz-e-Janaza at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) this afternoon.
Earlier, his first Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Dainik Bhorer Kagaj office premises while the second Namaz-e-Janaza was held after Zohr prayers at the National Press Club.
Jatiya Press Club President Farida Yasmin, MP, and its general secretary Shyamal Datta have expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of M Atiqur Rahman.
In a condolence message, they prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympa-thy to the bereaved family.
Atique completed his graduation in Bangla from Jahangirnagar University (JU).
He started his career as a journalist through joining a Bengali daily ‘Dainik Al-Amin’ while studying at the university.
Later, he worked at various newspapers including the ‘Daily Manabjamin’. He worked at the Bhorer Ka-gaj for the last 10 years.
