Number of deals to be signed with Thailand

A number of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are likely to be signed between Dhaka and Bangkok during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 24-29 April visit to Thailand, the foreign ministry said Thursday.

At the invitation of her Thai counterpart Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay an official visit to Bangkok, Thailand, accompanied by a high-level delegation which includes a number of ministers, advisers, secretaries, and other senior officials of the government.

Before meeting her Thai counterpart, the Bangladesh PM is scheduled to attend the 80th Session of the Commission for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission of Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in Bangkok.

On 26 April, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be formally received by Thai Premier Srettha Thavisin while a ceremonial guard of honour will be accorded to her. Then, Sheikh Hasina will hold bilateral talks with Srettha Thavisin at the Government House in Bangkok.

Sheikh Hasina will also meet Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshan at Thailand’s royal palace.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Thailand is expected to open new windows of cooperation between the two friendly countries.

PM at UNESCAP event

On 25 April, a day before meeting the Thai PM, Sheikh Hasina will deliver a speech at the 80th Session of the Commission for UNESCAP in Thai capital Bangkok. The event would start on 22 April and end on 26 April.

On 25 April, Executive Secretary of UNESCAP Armida Salsiah Alisjabana will meet Sheikh Hasina on the sidelines of the event. Notably, Armida Salsiah is also the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations.
