Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira yesterday arrived here on a two-day official visit to further strengthen the bilateral and commercial ties with Bangladesh.
Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen received Vieira at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka upon his arrival.
The Brazilian foreign minister is scheduled to hold a bilateral talk with his Bangladesh counterpart Dr Hasan Mahmud this afternoon while he is likely to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.
He along with a business delegation will also interact with Bangladesh business leaders during his tour.
The Brazilian minister, as well, will visit Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 yesterday afternoon to pay rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman before his meeting with Hasan Mahmud.]
The two countries are likely to sign an agreement on technical cooperation after the bilateral meeting.
The two foreign ministers will jointly brief the media on the outcome of the bilateral meeting.
State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu will also meet the Brazilian foreign minister at his place of residence.
Hasan Mahmud will host an iftar and dinner in honour of his Brazilian counterpart this evening.
On Monday, after his meeting with Sheikh Hasina, Vieira will visit Square Pharmaceuticals facilities and Beximco Industrial Park in Gazipur.
The Brazilian minister is also scheduled to deliver a lecture on Brazil’s priority areas at G20 as the cur-rent chair at Foreign Service Academy at 3 pm on Monday.
Country’s apex trade body, FBCCI, will host an iftar and dinner in honour of the Brazilian foreign min-ister and business delegation members on Monday evening.
Vieira is scheduled to leave Dhaka at 11:55 pm on the same day.
