Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a death row convict conducting a raid in Turag police station area in Dhaka.
Police identified the arrestee as AMM Faisal alias Paddy, 31, son of late Mahtab Uddin of Gangni Thana of Meherpur District saying he was sentenced to death over brutal murder of Bangla daily Banik Barta employee Jahangir.
Faisal was arrested in a secret raid around 6:15 pm on Monday after he went into hiding for nine years following the murder, RAB-2 Senior Assistant Director (Media) ASP Shihab Karim said yesterday.
Police recovered the decomposed body of Jahangir, who was assistant manager of Banik Barta’s adver-tisement section, from a building in the capital’s Khilkhet area on September 18 in 2015.
