An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was injured as two factions of the student wing continued their clash for the second day at Chittagong University (CU) on Thursday.
However, identity of the injured couldn’t be ascertained immediately.
Sources said an activist named Kamrul Islam, student of 2019-2020 session of the university, of faction ‘Bijoy’ had an altercation with an activist of ’69’ on Sunday. Kamrul was beaten by 69 activists that night.
Later on Wednesday night, the Bijoy activists attacked on a 69 activist which led to bigger clash between the two factions.
While the Bijoy activists took position in front of the Sohrawardi Hall of the university, 69 activists in front of Shah Jalal Hall. The clash continued till 2:30pm on Thursday, they said.
CU Proctor Nurul Azim Shikder said the situation was brought under control at around 2:30pm.
“Enough police forces were deployed at the campus to avert any further incident,” he added.
